3A-Your entrepreneurship story

A few years ago I was in a tight spot financially and wanted to make some extra money.  I did not want to work for two bosses at the same time so I tried to do something myself.  I bought a lawn mower, a leaf blower, and a string trimmer.  I started going from door to door asking people if I could mow their yards.  I eventually had six consistent yards on the outside of my full time job.  I quickly realized that being your own boss is not as easy as it sounds.  It is great in the sense that you can make your own rules.  The hard thing is that I was putting in all of the work by myself.  It made it hard on days when I did not feel like getting back in the sun and sweating all morning.  The one great thing was that any money I made was all mine and what I could make was up to me.

I needed one elective for my major and I was looking through the list and saw this class.  I thought to myself that I want to be a business owner one day and I knew this class would pertain to that.  I am hoping that this class will help me hone and think about concepts of entrepreneurship that I would not have thought about.  I believe this class will make me a better entrepreneur.  It will help me develop skills that I need in business.

PT Barnum is my favorite entrepreneur of all time

  1. I can understand your experience and being your own boss not being as easy as it sounds. It's always easy to talk about doing it, but when the pressures and complete workload are actually presented it makes your old position not seem as bad. It sounds like it worked out for you though and the money makes it worth it at the end of the day. Also, PT Barnum is great, a remarkable story.
